- Nathan: Hey, What are you going rn?
- Charlene: Extra credit work, but what's up?
"So, stop wallowing and start thinking. Better yet, move on…,"
"Still…it is the first thing you assumed," Althea smiled wickedly. The girl was just making it way too easy for her. "Marshall McLuhan once said that ‘most of our assumptions have outlived their uselessness’. And it looks like he was right.”
"I-…" She shook her head, sighing. "I know, I know.” Charlene was useless. What would a useless girl at Fermont be of use for? That was the point of the word uselessness. ”You’re right. He’s right.”
"Is there something wrong with you? A loose screw, perhaps? Don’t deny it. You just said so yourself. And newsflash, not every girl would think of beating a guy up after a breakup. Unlike you."
"I never said that," She told Althea sternly with a roll of her eyes. "I said that any girl could say that the best thing to do would be to beat him up and teach him a lesson but I wouldn’t.” Charlene said slowly, enunciating the words for the girl.
Althea laughed, “Was that your biggest plan? Beat the guy? Christ, have some class. No wonder you are having boy problems. I’m starting to feel bad for the guy, whomever he is.”
"I never said I wanted to beat him!" She exclaimed as she stared at the girl. "It was not that anyways so just…" Charlene shook heard head, having had enough of the girl already. "Forget it."
"Pleased to meet you as well, Charlene from the Music department." She smirked, resting her head in her hands. "So…why do you like the flute?" She asked, thinking of something nice to say.
She smiled lightly at Jude. “Why do I like the flute?” Charlene repeated, thinking hard. “Well it’s just a nice instrument,” she shrugged. “I love the noise it makes, though I want to learn guitar and piano sometime too.”
"No need to thank me, darling." She nodded her head. "It’s the one and only truth." Jude smiled politely, sticking her hand out. "I’m Jude Jones from the Science department." She tilted her head slightly to the side. "How about you?"
"Well I do thank you… no matter what," Charlene told the girl, pleased with the helpful advice. "Charlene Leese, Music Department, as you may have noticed," she added, gesturing to her flute. "It’s nice to meet you, Jude."
Nathan pressed a third kiss on top of her head with a laugh, “It wont be awkward unless we make it awkward.” He listened to her laugh which made him smile. He squeezed her gently before letting her go, “I have to go, but again im sorry. I didnt mean to hurt you. I hope that you at least feel a little better and that you know that you do matter to me and that you are important and wonderful and i do love you.” He kissed her head again and moved around her with a sigh, “Ill see you around Charlene.” He smiled and moved out the door. That was the way he should have done things before.
Charlene smiled at the third kiss that was placed lightly on her forehead and she laughed again at his comment. “Well, we’ll have to place a strict ‘No kissing’ rule, huh?” She grinned and stood as he let go and proposed that he had to leave. “Al-Alright then.” She smiled, folding her hands and nodding. “See you around, Nathan…” She repeated with a gentle smile, before she moved to open the door behind him and soon closed it when he left. So this is love. Charlie sighed and dreamily smiling, flopped onto her bed.
"You are not fragile, honey. You’re just nice, it’s good to be nice. People like you for what you truly are. I can see you’re naturally like that and that’s a really good thing, okay?" She paused. "Just don’t lwt yourself down, okay?"
"That’s- that’s really nice." Charlene smiled gently at the girl in front of her, probably the biggest she’s smiled all day, despite it not being a big smile at all. "I guess so.. thank you- ah…" she paused, embarrassed. "I never caught your name…" Then she shook her head. "It’s hard."
"Sometime." He agreed, "Oh you better welcome me back." he grinned. "Why would i not behave?" He asked with a pout. Her laugh rang around the room which made him smile largely, "Good. I hope youll love me." Nathan said softly. "I am troubled, but time will fix it." He rubbed her back before her felt hte urge to grab her face in his hands and give her a light, last kiss. Thats what he did. Nathan leaned in slowly and pressed his lips to Charlenes gently, It felt nice, but not like old times. It was a sad kiss. He let her go shortly after. "Can we forget the first try, and just count this as our break." He asked, " I was rude to you and im sorry."
"Oh I better? Is that what you say?" She laughed again, this time more softly. "Oh, I don’t know. You may be naughty." With that, Charlene pursed her lips together and smiled delightfully at him. "I will… Nathan. I promise." She told him, and nodded to his next words but before he had spoke again, he enveloped her into a sweet, desperate kiss on the lips. Charlie started as surprised but she gently took him in, scared that this one would be their last, at least for a while. Her lips connected with his and she knew she was going to miss those moments; when her belly fluttered with butterflies and her heart soared. She ran a delicate hand along his cheek once he had released her. "Yes… we can." Was all she said, and she leaned her head against his, staring into his eyes for a moment until she pulled back. "You’re a great guy Nathan… I just hope we can hang out as friends without being awkward…" Charlene confessed, chuckling slightly.
